Short Notes on Schemes started by Indian Government

 The list of all Schemes and Initiatives taken by Narendra Modi Government since May, 2014. It is the latest brief notes on different Schemes by the Indian Government.
This current affair and useful notes are very much needed for UPSC, SSC and IBPS aspirants or preparing for any other exams. So, i am sharing this PDF with other aspirants and hope that it benefits you.in your exams.

List of Important Schemes started by Modi Government:

1. Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yogna (PMJDY)
- Aim to achieve Financial Inclusion and provide banking facility to persons of every section of the society.
- No minimum balance is required.
- Interest on Deposit as on normal Savings account.
- Life Insurance of Rs.30,000 and Accidental Insurance of Rs.1 Lakh.
- Overdraft Facility.
2. Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY)
- Life Insurance scheme for people age 18 to 50 years.
- Premium of Rs.330/year for Rs.2 lakh insurance covered by LIC.
- The amount will be deducted from Savings Account automatically for premium. 
3. Pradhan Mantri Surkhsa Bima Yojana (PMSBY)
- Accident Insurance Scheme offering accidental death and disability cover for death or disability on account
of an accident. 
- All savings bank account holders in the age 18 to 70 years, are eligible.
- Rs.12/year premium deducted from Savings account for insurance cover of 2 lakhs. And, 1 lakh can be claimed for disability or any other injury.
4. Atal Pension Scheme
- Can be joined by people age 18 to 40 years.
- Provide Social Security for old-aged people above 60 years, with monthly pension 1000 to 5000 rupees.
- If a person invests Rs.42/month starting at the age 18, will get Rs.1000 pension monthly after the age of 60.

5. Kisan Vikas Patra
- Savings Account Scheme
- Invested in the denominations of 1000, 5000, 10000 & 50,000 with no upper limit. Purchase certificate from post offices.
- Interest of 8.7% and will be doubled in 100 months.
- lock-in period 2 years and 6 months.
6. Krishi Ambani Bima Yojana
- Agricultural Insurance on the crops.
- It will not bear any financial burden, if their produced crops gets destroyed.
- All crops are covered under this.
- No restriction on total sum insured and it can be of the value of the threshold yield of the crop with an option to cover upto 150% of average yield of the crop for extra premium. 
7. Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana (PMKSY)
- Rs.50,000 crore will be spent in 5 years to improve irrigation system in India.
- Only 44% irrigation system is there.
- This scheme is decentralized and the states shall now draw district-level plans successfully.
- The long-term adherence to these District Irrigation Plans (DIP) and State Irrigation Plans (SIP) will be supervised by a National Steering Committee (NSC) with representation from the various ministries involved and shall be monitored by the Union Ministers. The Prime Minister himself shall chair the committee.
8. Pradhan Mantri Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (PMSAGY)
- MPs has to adopt a village that must have a population of 3000-5000 people if it is located in the plains, or 1000-3000 people if located in hilly areas.
- Development of model village called Adrash Grams with help of existing schemes and initiatives.
-  Funds will provided from MP local area development, Center and State Finance Commission Grants, CSR funds etc.
- Developing the socio-economic and physical infrastructure of three villages each by 2019, and a total of eight villages each by 2024. 
9. Soil Health Card
- Soil Health Card is used to assess the current status of soil health and, when used over time, to determine changes in soil health that are affected by land management. 
- The scheme will provide all 145 million farm owners in the country with a soil health card in the next three years. - The budget allotted Rs.100 crore for issuing cards and an additional Rs.56 crore to set up 100 mobile soil testing laboratories across the country.

10. Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana
- Aimed to provide 24x7 uninterrupted power supply to all houses in rural India.
- GOI will spend 75,600 crore for rural electrification.
- The scheme will replace the existing Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana (RGGVY).
Rural Electrification Corporation (REC) is the Nodal Agency for operationalization of this Scheme. It will furnish monthly progress reports on the implementation of the scheme indicating both financial and physical progress to Ministry of Power and Central Electricity Authority . 
11. Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana
-  DDU-GKY bridges this gap by funding training projects bench-marked to global standards, with an emphasis on placement, retention, career progression and foreign placement.
- Mandatory coverage of socially disadvantages groups with ratio SC/ST- 50%, Minority- 15% and Women- 33%
- Assured Skill Training and Placement for minimum of 10,000 for DDU-GKY trainee in a span of 2 years.
- DDU-GKY funds projects with training duration from 576 hours (3 months) to 2304 hours (12 months).

12. Pandit DeenDayal Updhyay Shramev Jayate Yojana
- Launched by Ministry of Labour and Employment in 20 states.
- Allow 4.17 crore employees to have their Provident Fund account portable, hassle-free and universally accessible.
- Allot Labour Identification Number (LIN) and allow them to file online compliance for 16 out of 44 labour laws.
- Revamped Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana by introducing a Smart Card for the worker in unorganized sector seeded with details of social security schemes.
13. Sukanya Samridhi Yojana/ Sukanya Dev Yojana
- It is a part of "Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao" yojana.
- Can be opened for girls of age 5 years to 10 years.
- Interest of 9.2% will be given and Account can be opened in PS banks or Post office. And, exempted from Tax.
- The account may be opened with an initial deposit of Rs 1,000 and thereafter, any amount in multiple of Rs 100 can be deposited. The minimum deposit every year is Rs 1,000 and maximum Rs 1.5 lakh.
- The account can be closed when the girl attain the age of 21. She may continue the account even after that.
14. Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao Yojana
- Sukanay Samridhi Yojana is a part of this yojana.
- Prevention of gender based sex selective elimination.
- Ensuring survival, protection and proper education of a girl child.
- Separate Toilets for Girls in schools and increase participation of girls in secondary schools to 79% by 2017. 
- Improve Sex Ratio of India.
15. Swachh Bharat Abhiyan
- Clean India Mission covering 4041 statutory towns.
- Campaign started on 2nd October, 2014 and aimed to achieve "Swach Bharat" by 2019 on 150th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
- Total sanitation of villages through the construction of drains, soakage pits, toilets, solid and liquid waste disposal.
- Elimination of open defecation.
- Eradication of Manual Scavenging.
- Improve Sanitation practice among people.
- Expected cost of Rs.62000 crore to accomplish total sanitation.
16. Make in India
- To promote Manufacturing sector of India.
- Decrease un0employment and Increase minimum wages.
- Reform Labour law and promote Skill development. 
17.Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) / Skill India Mission
- Tagline -- 'Kaushal Bharat, Kushal Bharat' (Skilled India, Successful India).
- Skill development of 40 crore youth by 2022.
- Financial Rewards to candidates who successfully complete the approved skill training.
- 1,000 centers across India opened covering 50,000 youth getting training.
- Skill Loan of 5,000-1.5lakh will be given for those who are seeking Skill Development.

18. Digital India
-To have access of Internet to every citizens of India.
- Improve digital infrastructure and provide e-governance facility to citizens of India.
- Internet of Things (IOT) required to achieve Smart City projects.
- 9 pillars of Digital India:- (1) Broadband Highways; (2) Universal Access to Mobile Connectivity; (3) Public Internet Access Programme; (4) E-Governance; (5) e-Kranti – Electronic delivery of services; (6) Information for All (7) Electronics Manufacturing –Target NET ZERO Imports; (8) IT for Jobs; (9) Early Harvest Programmes 
19. Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT)
- Improve the quality of life for all by providing basic services and amenities to every households.
- Every household has access to a tap with assured supply of water and a sewerage connection.
- Reduce pollution by switching to public transport.
- Increase the amenity value of cities by developing greenery and well maintained open spaces.
- 500 small cities or towns will be covered.

20. Smart City
-A smart city should be able to respond faster to city and global challenges than one with a simple 'transactional' relationship with its citizens.
- Key 'smart' sectors which includes--Transport, Energy , Health care& Water and waste
100 PROPOSED SMART CITIES
- Provide adequate water supply, assured electricity, health, education, transport facilities, security and E-governance.
- 98 Smart Cities to be developed has been finalized by Urban Development Ministry.
- financial support of Rs. 48,000 crores over five years i.e. on an average Rs. 100 crore per city per year. An equal amount, on a matching basis, will have to be contributed by the State/ULB; therefore, nearly Rs. 1 lakh crore of Government/ULB funds will be available for Smart Cities development.
21. Housing for all by 2022
- Affordable house by 2022 under Public and Private partnership.
- Affordable houses to weaker section of the society through credit-linked subsidy.
- Slum rehabilitation of Slum Dwellers with participation of private developers using land as a resource.
- Under slum rehabilitation program, government grants Rs. 1 lakh.
- Project will covered in 3 phases- Phase-I (April 2015 - March 2017) to cover 100 Cities; Phase - II (April 2017 - March 2019) to cover additional 200 Cities; and Phase-III (April 2019 - March 2022) to cover all other remaining Cities.
- Estimated 2 crore houses are required with 24x7 electricity and water supply.
22. INDRADANUSH
- To achieve full immunization coverage for all children in the country by 2020 
- The Union Health & Family Welfare Ministry will be supported by UNICEF, WHO, Rotary International and other donor partners 
- The plan aims at providing immunization for seven diseases which can be prevented by vaccination:Whooping cough ,Hepatitis B, Diphtheria, Tetanus, Polio, Tuberculosis 
- Around 201 districts will be covered in the first phase and 297 will be targeted in the second phase & around 82 districts are in the States of Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh
23. Pradhan Mantri MUDRA bank yojana
- Micro Units Development and Refinance Agency (MUDRA) Yojana launched for the development of small entrepreneurs of India and helps Indian economy to grow.
- MUDRA Bank has launched three loan instruments:

  • Shishu: covers loans upto Rs 50,000/-
  • Kishor: covers loans above Rs 50,000/- and upto Rs 5 lakh
  • Tarun: covers loans above Rs 5 lakh and upto Rs 10 lakh

24. Namami Gange
- Ganga Clean and Conservation Mission
- Rs. 2037 crore allocated in Budget 2014-2015.
- 20,000 crore needed for "Namami Gange Project"
- Covers 2500 Km, 48 towns, 23 small and 29 big cities, and 118 ghats need to be develop along the shore of Ganga river. 
25. PRASAD- (Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Augmentation Drive)
- To improve Tourism near Pilgrimage places of India.
- A Mission directorate has been set up under Ministry of Tourism with budget of Rs. 15.60 crore.
- 12 Pilgrimage sites will be developed - Amaravati (Andhra Pradesh), Gaya (Bihar), Dwarka (Gujarat), Amritsar (Punjab), Ajmer (Rajasthan), Kanchipuram (Tamil Nadu), Vellankani (Tamil Nadu), Puri (Odisha), Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh), Mathura (Uttar Pradesh), Kedarnath (Uttarakhand) and Kamakhya (Assam).  
26. Mahatma Gandhi Pravasi Suraksha Yojana (MGPSY)
- Launched in UAE in April, 2014
- Aimed to provide Pension and Life Insurance fund scheme for the Overseas Indian workers having Emigration Check Required (ECR) passports.
- The workers have to contribute between 1000 rupees and 12000 rupees per annum towards the pension fund and 4000 rupees towards the return and resettlement fund. They will derive corresponding benefits when they go back home and during their old age.
- designed to help workers to meet their three financial needs: saving for retirement, saving for their return and resettlement, and providing free life insurance offering coverage for death from natural causes.
27. Shyama Prasad Mukherji Rural Mission
- Transform Rural areas to economically, socially and physically sustainable areas in order to restrict rural to urban migration.
- Cabinet has approved 5142.08 crore of budget.
- Develop Smart Villages with proper infrastructure, skill development, entrepreneurship and set-up industries for employment.
-The mission aims to create 300 such Rurban growth clusters over the next 3 years, across the country.
- It can be called AMRUT project for rural India.  
28. Pradhan Mantri Khanij Kshetra Kalyan Yojana (PMKKKY)
- For the welfare of Affected people due to mining projects in their areas.
- District Mineral Foundation (DMF) will be set up to implement development work in these areas.
