Reasoning for SSC CHSL & RRB PART-1

1. Find the missing term?
1
3
10
2
6
37
8
4
?
(a) 30
(b) 16
(c) 17
(d) 24
Ans.(c)
Sol. In 1st row:
10 + 32 = 10
In 2nd row:
2+ 62 = 37
Similarly in 3rd row:
80 + 42 = 1 + 16 = 17

2. If A > B, B > C and C > D, then which of the following conclusions is definitely wrong?
(a) A > D
(b) A > C
(c) D > A
(d) B > D
Ans.(c)
Sol. A > B, B > C, C > D ⇒ A > B > C > D ⇒ A > D ⇒ D ≯ A. So, (c) is false.
3. If ÷ implies =, × implies <, + implies >, - implies ×, > implies ÷, < implies +, = implies -, identify the correct expression.
(a) 1 - 3 > 2 + 1 - 5 = 3 - 1 < 2
(b) 1 - 3 > 2 + 1 × 5 = 3 × 1 > 2
(c) 1 × 3 > 2 + 1 × 5 × 3 - 1 > 2
(d) 1 - 3 > 2 + 1 × 5 + 3 - 1 > 2
 Ans.(d)
Sol. Using the proper notations in (d), we get the statement as:
1 × 3 ÷ 2 > 1 < 5 > 3 × 1 ÷ 2 or 3/2 > 1 < 5 > 3/2, which is true.
